Amplify & Advocates for Youth

Amplify has relaunched!

From their new website:

“Amplify is a project of Advocates for Youth. Established in 1980 as the Center for Population Options, Advocates for Youth champions efforts to help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. Advocates believes it can best serve the field by boldly advocating for a more positive and realistic approach to adolescent sexual health.”

If you’ve got kids that want to be better educated about sexual health, reproductive rights and how public policy impacts their lives- then plugging them in to Amplify is a great idea.

More from their About page: “Every year Advocates for Youth directly trains more than 2000 youth activists, helping them to reach their peers with information and advocacy and improve their reproductive and sexual health. As a result of these and other efforts Advocates’ Youth Activist Network (YAN) currently consists of more than 30,000 young people from the U.S. and across the globe. Through Amplify — the YAN’s online home — these young people hope to reach hundreds of thousands more.”

Why I love the Amplify project? It is a direct action program from young people. It’s not just about advocating FOR youth, it’s about teaching young people how to be their OWN best advocates. Also, it’s a pretty sex-positive endeavor! “Advocates for Youth envisions a society that views sexuality as normal and healthy and treats young people as a valuable resource.”
