Workshop: Talking about Gender and Sexuality with Children

Wednesday June 1, 2016 from 7:30-9pm. This workshop is designed for parents and caregivers who want to be empowered when discussing gender and sexuality with children. In this workshop, I will teach you how to use age-appropriate messages about sexuality that are inclusive to gender diversity.

Being a sex-positive parent means we prioritize our child's sexual health, just as we prioritize their mental and emotional health. In this workshop, you can learn how to maintain a non-punitive stance toward sexuality, demonstrate that you are knowledgeable about the gender spectrum, and be confident in modeling boundaries and consent. We will role play, practice and share experiences of having those little conversations that add up to a solid foundation of sexuality education.

This workshop will be centered in deep compassion for all parents and caregivers who are trying to figure this out as they go. We all need supportive care as we care for and support the young people in our lives. We will foster empathy for each other's parenting challenges. Spending time with other parents and caregivers who are looking for resources is a resource in itself!

I'm so looking forward to spending an evening with other parents who are doing this work to support their families in a whole new way.
